Zisterne des großen Königs Isa

This cistern is located in the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque between the southwestern and western escarpment, on the Temple Mount at the height of the Al Aqsa Mosque.

The great king Issa ibn al-Adel al-Ayyubi gave the instruction in 607 / 1210-1211 to build the cistern to collect and store water for the visitors of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Its structure consists of three corridors with cross vaults. The use of the cistern has recently been discontinued. Part of her is now used as the medical clinic of Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
