Der Brunnen am Kettentor (9) Sabil Bab al-Silsila

The fountain is located on the west side of Bab al-Silsila courtyard, at the beginning of Bab al-Silsila street from the east. The Sabil has other names, including Mahallet Bab al-Silsila (Bab al-Silsila way). It was founded in the time of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman on 22 Rajab 943 Hijri or 4 January 1537 AD.

The fountain consists of an architectural unit formed by a recessed wall recess and crowned by an ogival arch. Below the arch is an inscription engraved with the numerous titles of Sultan Sulaiman and the date of its construction. Under the inscription there is a stone basin to catch the residual water used by the visitors. The buzzing is currently inactive.
