Der Brunnen am Bab Al-Atm (Sabil Bab Al-Atm)

The well is located within the grounds of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, on the north side between Bab Al-Atm and Qubbat Ushaq al-Nabi (the "lover of the Prophet"), about 15 meters from the gate al-Atm. Like so many fountains of the city, this one was built by the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman in 943 Hijri / 1536 AD, with the latter also having the adjoining prayer niche renovated.

Like the other sabils commissioned by Sultan Suleiman, this fountain consists of a recessed wall niche, whose arches are decorated with arabesques and plant motifs. The path has recently been restored and is equipped with seats for ritual washing.
