Der Brunnen der Jungfrau Maria (Sabil Bab Siti Maryam)

The well is located on the north side of the Mujahideen Way, about 10 meters west of Asbat Gate, also known as St. Mary's Gate, and was built during the reign of Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in 943 Hijri – 1536 AD. The fountain is a small architectural unit, like all the other sabils built by Sultan Suleiman.

It consists of a rectangular wall niche over which there is a pointed arch. The lower part has a stone basin to catch the water. The original inscription with the story of the fountain has been lost and has been replaced by a copy with the same content. The Sabil is currently out of service and some of its decorative elements have been removed. Unfortunately, the stone basin is therefore sometimes used as a dustbin.
