Qubbat Al-Arwah (Dome of the Souls)

Qubbat Al-Arwah is located on the northern side of the compound of the Dome of the Rock, opposite to the northwestern colonnade. It dates back to the tenth Hijri century / the sixteenth century AD. Its founder is unknown. Qubbat Al-Arwah was built near the place known as Magharet al-Arwah (the Cave of Spirits), which is related to the Muslim’s belief that Jerusalem and al-Aqsa Mosque form the land of resurrection and gathering.

The Dome's structure consists of eight-cylinder marble columns topped by pointed stone arches.

Atop the arches is a small, shallow dome. At the front of the Dome is a mihrab (prayer niche) dug into the floor on the western side.
