Qubbat Al-Khadir (Dome of al-Khadir)

It is located above the northwestern corner of the compound of the Holy Rock. The Dome’s history is unknown, but it is believed that it dates back to the tenth Hijri century / the sixteenth century AD. Its founder is also unknown.

Qubbat Al-Khadir is a memorial dome that was built to commemorate the important role that al-Khadir has in the Islamic heritage and beliefs and the place where he prayed. The building is formed of a rectangular base that supports a small, shallow hexagonal dome, which is open at all sides.
