The Coptic Patriarchate and Monastery, and Helena’s Well

The Coptic Convent is located in the Old City of Jerusalem, to the north of the Holy Sepulcher, near to the Sultan Monastery (Deir al-Sultan), which is the 9th station of Via Dolorosa. It can be reached by walking through Khan al-Zeit Street, right before reaching Suq al-Attarin (Spices Market), or through the Church of the Holy Sepulcher courtyard.

The Convent is very large and includes a secondary school and a church that dates back to the Franks era. It extends to the north, to reach al-Khanqah al-Salahiyya road. It contains an old well, and it is believed that St. Helena built the well to use the water from the well to build the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
