John the Baptist Church

This church is located on the eastern side of the Christian Quarter Street, on the intersection with Suwayqet Elwan (Elwan Small Market). Originally, the Church is a Byzantine site that dates back to the fifth century AD. However, it was destroyed in the year 614 AD.

The Church and the Bell Tower were rebuilt in the Franks era. The location was used as a hospital and a center for the Knights of St. John.
